Course Descriptions
Ayurveda: An Introduction (2 hrs.)
Have you ever wondered about the philosophies behind the new wave of Ayurvedic-inspired spa treatments such as Shirodhara and those aimed at balancing the doshas: Pitta, Kapha, and Vata? You’ll learn which dosha type(s) you identify with, and how to help yourself and your clients achieve better health and wellness. Come to this brief introduction to see if you’d like to learn more about this ancient healing system.
The Psychology of Massage: The Consultation Process (3 hrs.)
Discover the importance of the consultation process to your massage sessions. Learn consultation techniques to help identify your client’s personality type, hidden contraindications, and individual needs. Put what you learn to use, and experience higher client satisfaction and repeat business!
Building Your Practice: Marketing Basics for the CMT (3 hrs.)
Just starting out or having trouble growing your client base? We’ll discuss marketing techniques to build awareness for your services and increase client retention. Topics include printed collateral, websites, e-mail blasts, social media, referral incentives, loyalty programs, and more.
Retail Recommendations (2 hrs.)
Are you worried about clients feeling like they’re in a sales pitch? Learn how to make retail recommendations not only a boost to your bottom-line, but a valuable part of your client’s experience. It’s a win-win for everyone if you do it right.
Making a Living as a Massage Therapist (2 hrs.)
Just because you love your work and are a fabulous massage therapist doesn’t mean you’ll be able to support yourself financially. Come to discuss the challenges and learn how to take control of the business side of your practice. We’ll talk about different options for working for someone, being your own boss, or opening a spa or studio and what that might mean for your financial wellbeing. This is an interactive session – we welcome you to come with questions about your own situation and how to improve it.

What is Aromatherapy? Learn about its history and how essential oils can improve your health and wellbeing. This class includes an overview of the benefits of the most commonly used essential oils, plus the chance to make your own customized aromatic oil to take home.
Aromatherapy for Your Massage Practice (Aromatherapy II) (4 hrs.)
Ready to take your aromatherapy practice to the next level? Learn how to incorporate it into your massage practice with consultation and aroma blending techniques. This class includes the chance to make your own customized cream to take home.
Prerequisite: Aromatherapy I
Advanced Aromatherapy (Aromatherapy III) (4 hrs.)
For serious aromatherapy enthusiasts, this class will cover more advanced topics such as essential oils chemical chemotypes, a look at aromatic product houses and brands, and aromatherapy treatment design. Learn how to boost revenue by incorporating customized aromatherapy spa treatments on your service menu. This class includes the chance to make your own customized bath soak or scrub to take home.
